Feasting on Spec Fic TV Shows

This holiday I've been watching Dark Angel. It came out in 2000 and I never heard of it until now. They only made two seasons. My favourite so far is the episode where Bruno returns. Very droll.

It took Buffy two seasons to hit its stride. I only have the first season of Dark Angel, but I can't see why it didn't take off.

Then I remember that Fire Fly was cancelled part way through its first season and all I can do is shake my head.

Meanwhile, Charlaine Harris, the author the the Southern Vampire Series that is True Blood, is coming to Australia in September. See here for info, scroll down to the bottom. I really enjoyed the TV show, especially the slutty brother. Again, very droll!

Here's a pic for True Blood fans.

I'm half way through watching Firefly for the first time, now, and I cannot BELIEVE this amazing show was bottom of the ratings while Joe Millionaire was number 1.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE???

I'm going to calm down and watch another episode. Can I borrow that show from you after you're finished ;)

Thoraiya,

There is no justice in the world, when shows like Firefly get cancelled and shows like Biggest Loser and that singing one, rake in big dollars.

I've also watched Joss Whedon's Doll House. It is not as good. The first season was only just hitting its stride by the end. But I would keep watching to see what he did with it.

Oh Rowena, you have really hit a bugbear of mine.... that is that such wonderful shows like Firefly & Dark Angel are not given the time of day by TV stations and then guess what - no ratings = cancellation. Also TV stations change times, show things out of order, stop/start shows and it's very very frustrating.

I watched Dark Angel years ago on Foxtel but it never made commercial television and if it did, it would have been at a time slot at some weird hour in the morning. I've given up trying to keep up.

Poor Joss Whedon - first Firefly and now Dollhouse has been wrapped up before its time.

No-one seems to give things time to mature anymore.

Eleni,

Let me know if you come across a good TV show. I'm always looking for something quirky!
